Key Connections
Key Connections Co-Living Program is dedicated to ensuring older adults can remain in the homes and communities they cherish while promoting affordable intergenerational living. By connecting elders with available rooms to those seeking affordable housing, we help foster a supportive and enriching environment for all ages—from Gen Z to Boomers.
Key Connections benefits
Affordable Living and Financial Stability
Our program helps increase financial stability by allowing participants to share living expenses like rent and utilities. Our program enables them to live independently longer while providing affordable housing options for others.
Fostering Social Connections
By matching individuals with compatible home mates, we combat loneliness and enhance the social health of all participants. Shared living arrangements promote companionship, social interaction, and emotional support and positively impact participants’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Creating Supportive Communities
Through shared experiences and responsibilities, co-living arrangements contribute to an enriching living environment and foster connections that improve the quality of life for all involved.
How does Key Connections work?
Homeowners and home seekers meet separately with the Key Connections Program Coordinator to discuss needs and preferences, complete the application, and provide references.
The Key Connections Program Coordinator will:
- Conduct reference and background checks for participants and any adults living in the home
- Identify potential co-living matches
- Make introductions between homeowners and home seekers
- Coordinate the written homesharing agreement
- Oversee trial living periods
- Connect participants to other community resources
Eligibility:
We proudly serve Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties. To participate, at least one household member must be 60 years or older. We conduct background checks on all participants, ensuring a safe and secure co-living environment. The cost of the background check is covered by our agency, and our services are free for both home providers and seekers.
